Christmas cards...

What a year it has been! For some reason I felt that recapping some fun stuff and sending it out via email would be easier than traditional Christmas cards. I think that it was.

For those of you that thought of us and sent cards - thanks!

The most creative is always my friend Heather. She works for Google - so it doesn't surprise me. Congrats to her and Ron on the upcoming new arrival to their family. I am so happy for you!

Michelle & Brian were unique in their pictoral recap of 2 1/2 years in Japan. They will be back in the USA soon and I am looking forward to seeing them and meeting Nathan in the new year.

And lastly - the most touching of cards was from Deena and Chris. Nothing like an old college roommate that used to cry with you during stupid sappy shows on tv to get to your heart. I first noticed the return address sticker had an American flag in the background and the last line of the address appropriately stated Unitd States of America. Anf the pictures of their 3 kids inside wearing "Red Friday" shirts in front of an American flag... It got me. I am so glad that Chris was able to come home from Afghanistan to be with all of you for Christmas. You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. The link below is for you (I am still such a sap!)

Thanks again for the cards! Happy reading of our non-traditional card.

December 2007

Off to Belize!!!

November 2007

I took a rest for the month.
It was nice to finally have some down time in preparation for the holiday season.

OK - I lied there... In a true fan moment I bought another ticket to see The Police. They played here in town. I donned my tour tshirt from the previous show and dragged myself to the Bobcats Arena - 10th row - all by myself - stood up when the first song started and didn't sit down until I got to my car at the end of the night... It was a rocking good time.

And for Thanksgiving - I went to Kerry and Neal's - that's kind of my MO for holidays.

October 2007

This was a jam packed month!
My mom and Andrea came down early in the month for the Race for the Cure. It was a chilly rainy blustery morning and we made our way uptown to walk for a good cause. Especially since the illness of breast cancer has hit so close to home this year.
We went to a wine tasting in South Park that afternoon.
And a party at Terry and Brian's house that night.
A very fun weekend.

The following weekend I went back down to ATL to check out the laser light show at Stone Mountain. That was fun. It was different than I expected by fun all the same. Overall that was a fun trip to ATL - even with the extra excursion to the airport in search of lost luggage.

For my birthday a few friends and I went to Ballantyne to chekc out the sites. What an eye opener that was. It was totally confirmed that I have not been out on the town in quite some time.

The last weekend was a Halloween Costume Party at Robert & Catherine's house. WOW! That was quite some party. As much as I didn't want to wear a costume - I had a good time when we get right down to it.

September 2007

Hmmm...
I remember now! I went to Austin, TX this month. Remember that test way back in the beginning of the year? Well this trip was for additional training around that position. In two words - not fun. Well actually the tasks are quite interesting as well as the job... it's just not fun when no one wants to play along and let you do that job. It is truly a full time job on top of my current job so... I may have taken on more than I can chew... And I may be choking on it but no one seems to be noticing...

August 2007

WOW - How could I almost forget the highlight of my summer. My mom flew down late July and the three of us (Bacchus is pretty game for road trips) drive back to NJ. Thursday night I hung out with Heidi in Monmouth Beach - that was lots of fun. Just like old times. Well except we were drinking wine and I wasn't babysitting their kids. And Friday!!!!! Stacey and I took the train from Red Bank into MSG to see The Police!!!!!!! It was a great show.

And then I rode some rollercoasters. (now that I think about it - that trip to ATL may have been in August as well) Robin, Suzanne and I followed in tradition from the year before and spent a day at Carowinds.

This year Reeves was able to ride some of the rides and he just loved it.
Robin and I rode The Borg - that was an odd feeling. I don't know that I liked it.
Suzanne and I rode Top Gun. That has to be my favorite ride in that park. I would have gone on again if it wasn't so HOT.
This year we did not got to the water park.
Maybe next year.

July 2007

An old friend of mine relocated to Atlanta. I went down to ATL late in the month and we rode some more rollercoasters.

Sure it was during the heat wave in ATL. The temp was over 100. But it was a great trip. It is a toss up as to what was my favorite ride. But I would say Goliath had the biggest build up.

June 2007

It was a tumultuous month.

I went home early in the month for a work meeting in NYC. It was good that I went when I did as my Grandmother was sick and I got to see her that visit. From NJ my mom and I went to NYC - it was raining so we didn't do much siteseeing. We did stay in a fancy hotel however...
http://westinny.com/ Oh - and we went to the wax museum.

Later in the month, my Grandmother passed away and I found myself getting on a plane yet again. There's not much to say on the subject. It was nice to see family and reminisce. My mom and I spent an evening on the couch going through my dad's box of slides looking for old photos. What a fun trip down memory lane.

I did forget about Daniel's party. It was so nice to see everyone - Cathy, Chuck, the kids, Dick, Margaret, Noel... We had good food, good wine, good laughs. Almost like old times - except missing a key player.

May 2007

CINCO DE MAYO!!!
Suzanne, Rob and I all made separate jaunts back out to Edisto for LA's wedding. What a beautiful occassion that was. There is a little white church on the way out to the island surrounded by live oak with spanish moss... It was beautiful. And the reception to follow - let's just say that LA's parents know how to throw party. Fresh shrimp and crab claws, grilled quail breast, shrimp and grits, pheasant sausage, strawberries, chocolate... I can't remember I ate so much. And the house - overlooking a creek that leads out to the river that leads out to the ocean - was larger than the church.
And then I was off to Mississippi... It's a work thing. This time around we took in the sights of Greenwood. And let me tell you my friend, Jay, pointed us in the direction of a restaurant there that was AMAZING!!! http://www.giardinas.com/ I would really like to go back there. However driving the entire state is exhausting.

March 2007

St. Patrick's Day was fun! We went to the local Irish Pub (as mentioned in February) and to another neighbor's for a party. Boy - my neighbors sure like to push the furniture out of the way and dance...

February 2007

Oh how fun February was!

First I took that Series 24 exam and passed. Some friends of mine all got together and we went to a caribbean restaurant in NoDa. Red Stripe, curried goat, oxtail and some tamer dishes. It was fun.
Then - I almost forgot - we all went out for Kerry's birthday. And you thought that a group fo 16 30 somethings would act differently than a group of 30 16 year olds. NOPE - not us girls. Everyone had an idea or agenda as to what to do - so we did lots... dinner at a mexican restaurant, drinks at an Irish pub, dancing at some italian restaurant that wants to be a night club. It was fun.

And finally, my mom went to Florida for the better part of the month. I'll let her share the details of her trip. I would say it was mostly golf. And I flew down at the end of the month to spend a week. We went to Walk Disney World!!!
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/parkOverview?id=ParkOverviewPage

I could write all about the trip and the many fun things we did. The first night at the park we had dinner at the resort at Animal Kingdom - I think that was the best meal we had - very unique. The next day we went to Animal Kingdom. The highlight of that park - Expedition Everest! And I dragged my unsuspecting mom (heck I was unsuspecting too) on that rollercoaster. When all the lights went out and we started zooming backwards!!!! I also remember we did talk to my grandmother from my mom's cell as we stood in line for the ride. Cell phone use isn't something I'd promote in Disney but it was for a good cause and I'm glad we did.
In other unique adventures of the trip we took ALL versions of transportation around the park - yet again riding in the front of the monorail into EPCOT. And we took the time to check out the various resorts - one is more breath-taking than the next.
Bottom line - I think I am a rollercoaster junkie.

January 2007

It took me some time to remember what I did for New Years. Historically it is not high on m list of holidays. I ended up at a neighbor's house. Now that I think about it - the whole neighborhood ended up at the neighbor's house.
I saw Rent at Ovens Auditorium. It was a Christmas present to the guy I was seeing at the time. Ironically we ended things the next day. At least the muscial was entertaining as well as the drinks and dinner after. And the relationship? yeah - that needed to end...
The rest of January I spent sitting at the dining room table studying for the Series 24 exam. If you aren't familiar with the exam or its material - be thankful.
