Homes and interiors

One of the aspects of the park I found interesting were the homes. They started with a small cabin and ended with a plantation home. There was another home further off the site that was being refurbished. I assume when that re-opens it will be more of an attraction than the other homes.

Historic Brattonsville

So the first weekend of the visit, my mom, Spencer and I took a drive over to Historic Brattonsville. I have to say I am surprised at the number of people in the area that have not been there before. I first heard of it not long after I moved to the area. Portions of The Patriot were filmed here. There was hoopla about Mel Gibson being in the area (like the Sting concert at Ovens I went to and Mel was in teh front row)... I digress.... So we spent a good amount of time site-seeing around the area.

Grounds for Sculpture

So a few months back I was out on the Shore Turtle blog. He had gone running through the old state fair grounds in Hamilton (or is it Hamilton Square?) and it looked rather interesting. I told my mom about it. And when the weather warmed up she headed out that way. Interesting may be an understatement.

LBI

She did a little trip to LBI one day too. Do you know I don't think I have ever been to Barnegat Lighthouse. How silly is that... How many other trips have and seen lighthouses but never the one closest to my house... OK Sea Girt is closest but... You know I don't know that I have seen the one at Sandy Hook either.

I wonder if these have candles too? Sorry KP it was just oddly coincidental to be back on the lighthouse conversation - I couldn't help it.

United Nations and then some

So my mom took a bus trip through Ocean County Community College to the United Nations.

Well she went to some gardens too but most of the pics are U.N.

Mothers May

My mom came to visit for the better part of May. And boy were we ever busy! I think we had a few more things to do on our list but the weather did not cooperate. It seemed to be raining for the whole visit as well.
So I have a bunch of pics etc to throw on here.
I have some older files of pics from her I need to link up.
It is still pretty early with the day so I figured I would tinker with this for a while... before attacking the rest of my list of things to do. So over a cup of coffee and Absolute Radio - here we go...

Cinco de Mayo - the next holiday...

We started early by going to Salsa's last night.
I am so inspired I am thinking of making fajitas this evening for dinner.
And maybe make a home made pinata... OK, not THAT inspired.

AZ Pics...

There are some beautiful pics in and amongst the 300+. It somewhat has confirmed I like bright blue waters and pale blue skies in comparison to the reds of the desert. But they are pretty all the same. And the Frank Lloyd Wright stuff (towards the end) is amazing. Almost makes me want to go back and finish that book...

To the beach

In the meantime, I did go to the beach for a long weekend the end of March.
I am planning on heading out there again this month.
So I figured I would start a new set of pages...

And so did the peace lily

The Violet Really Caught My Eye

Flowers

This is an odd one but the timing seems to work right... When my father died everyone sent me plants. And during the Spring when I anxiously tried to keep myself busy I managed to replant most of them. And some have continued to survive. And I'd say it may be about time to re-pot them again. But in the interim...

Sandy Hook

This weekend we were hit with more rain. It wasn't too bad weather wise in NJ. My mom and her friends went to Sandy Hook...

Is it Spring already?

A week after the snow, we had record high temperatures. And we were all in the mood to take advantage of the nice weather and Kerry & Neals' backyard/hospitality...

Florida 2009

It took some time get these pics from my mom...
How in the world can you take over 200 pictures of a place you have been to time and again.
Well she has... and there are some fun shots in there...
Of course I like the Disney and NASA shots the best.

Plus it took her some time to get home with all the snow...

Kerry's Birthday

In sticking with my usual approach to things these pictures are here and not on FB. It was a good night. You always have to be careful about those Mexican themed parties and the tequila and sombreros!!!!

There were a few more pics. I deleted some, cropped some, renamed others. I guess I could upload that album and post it...
But right now gotta go pic up my car...

Philadelphia Flower Show

Upon her return from Florida my mom headed right back out and made her way to the Philadelphia Flower Show.

She gives the caveat that some pics are blurry but you get the idea...

Snowy Day...

So we had a late in the season snow storm last evening... And in preparation of all my mom's great pics from her trip to FL I figured why not post some pics of the reality of winter... So when the snow started to accumulate the little guy and I ventured outside... Our only little snow casualty was my lone daffodil. The first Fall in my house my mom, dad, Bacchus and I planted ALOT of bulbs. This is the only one that consistently comes up and blooms. Marking the onset of Spring. I meant to take a picture of it while it was in bloom. Ooops. And on up the street... And we ventured around to the backyard. That's where the lightpost that generally lights my bedroom and bathroom every night and can be annoying caught my attention. Perhaps it reminded me of the lightpost in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I am not sure. I just liked it. And the tree basking in the light in the night. Ahhh daybreak...
